I have heard that the Quake Epsilon Build is quite good, so I downloaded the medium version to start with, but I cannot find the darkplaces Mac executable file. I'm new to all this, but i'm getting there gradually. I would highly suggest you run any of the above native clients rather than do that. I'm pretty sure all of these are universal binary except perhaps fitzquake SDL:īy the way if you have a PowerPC Mac running Qrack in virtualization would give you double bad results because of CPU emulation. Here's links to the various clients for OS X that I know of. I ran high res packs and replacement weapons models on it at one time. I ran it at one time and it seemed to have pretty good modding capability. One other client I almost forgot to mention is fuhQuake. There are actually quite a few alternatives depending on what you want without resorting to running windows in virtualization which wouldn't run as well. I mean the only real addition they have is being able to play MP3 songs from a folder. Also I don't think fruitz quake clients support very many of the mods at least not very many of the newer mods out there because of how vanilla it is. not sure if that's universal (runs on both PPC and intel) though but I know for sure fruitz of dojo is universal and proquake probably is too.įruitz of Dojo has regular GLQuake ported to universal binary as well as tenebrea btw. There's also proquake for OS X (as the OP has noted) and fruitz of dojo quake for more vanilla versions. It's native to the Mac no virtualization needed. For modding purposes I would suggest darkplaces. It's currently my favorite and runs all the mods I like exactly the same as in windows. I run darkplaces and all the latest mods for it on my Mac.
